Country superstar Tim McGraw may be gearing up for his Brothers of the Sun Tour with Kenny Chesney, but on Monday, May 28, he’s taking time out to host a Memorial Day concert in New York City’s Beacon Theatre for the military — and you can watch it online for free.
Titled Live from the Homefront, the show will stream Monday, May 28 beginning at 8pm ET on a special YouTube channel. The show is presented by Chase, and it will also stream live to military bases around the world via the Pentagon Channel.
And the McGraw news doesn’t stop there. The singer also announced today that he’s partnering with Chase and Operation Homefront to give away 25 mortgage-free houses to veterans who are wounded or otherwise in need this summer — one per each city on his upcoming Brothers of the Sun Tour.
“My sister’s a veteran of the first Gulf War,” McGraw said in a statement on his website. “My uncle was a Vietnam veteran and my grandfather was a World War II veteran. I’ve always felt a deep sense of respect and obligation to our troops. Being able to reward them for their dedicated work with a new home will be even more rewarding for us. It feels so good to give back to them, and to have the opportunity to entertain them on Memorial Day is something I’m honored to do.”
McGraw recently signed to Big Machine Records, which is home to such major country artists as Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, and Martina McBride.
He’s also currently getting ready for his Brothers of the Sun Tour, which is being touted as possibly one of the biggest country music tours ever. And he’s been tweeting photos from the rehearsals.
